Alice Stek Endorsed by PFP for Lieutenant Governor   (by Kevin Akin)

Alice Stek, a physician in Los Angeles County, has announced as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in the 2 June 2026 primary election.  She asked the Peace and Freedom Party Central Committee for its endorsement, and on Sunday 3 August she was endorsed by an overwhelming vote, with only one opposed.  Next, she will be asking for the endorsement of the Green Party, and intends to run as the Left Unity Slate candidate for the office.

In her letter requesting endorsement, she went over some of the responsibilities of the office of Lieutenant Governor, and how her experience and positions qualify her for the position.  Prospective voters may find her letter illuminating.  Here is the text of the letter.

"To the Peace and Freedom Party Chair and State Central Committee:

I am requesting the Peace and Freedom Party's endorsement of my candidacy for Lieutenant Governor in the June 2026 primary election.
My goal would be service to the party and promoting our platform by representing the Peace and Freedom Party as part of the Left Unity slate.
Most of you know me, as I have been active for almost 25 years, as a member of the Los Angeles County Central Committee and the State Central Committee, as a State Officer, and as a participant in numerous demonstrations and actions.
As a physician engaged in clinical and academic work, I believe I can represent the Party well. I am especially interested in the Lieutenant Governor's role as a member of the University of California Board of Regents and the California State University Board of Trustees. I have been affiliated with universities my entire adult life. I did all my education at public schools and universities. For the past 32 years I have been faculty at a private university and at one of the largest public hospitals in the state. As a resident in the Coastal Zone with a life-long interest in environmental protection, I am also interested in membership on the Coastal Commission and Ocean Protection Council. I could bring the socialist perspective to the California Commission for Economic Development.
Our platform is highly relevant to the work of all these commissions, of which the Lieutenant Governor is a member.
Please consider giving my campaign PFP's endorsement at our meeting on August 3rd.

Thank you.

Alice Stek, MD"

In California, voter registration is very important to political parties. The very existence of a political party as “ballot-qualified” is determined by the number of votes its statewide candidates receive or by the number of voters registered with the party. As the only feminist socialist political party on the California ballot, it is imperative that the Peace and Freedom Party continues as a qualified party.

Quite simply, the Peace and Freedom Party will not be able to provide Californians with candidates that will represent us unless we register and vote Peace and Freedom.

For all the information you need on registering to vote, visit the California Secretary of State's homepage at SOS.Ca.gov or just click here.

Thank you for registering Peace and freedom Party, and thank you for your vote!
