The June 2 Primary results are In:
Growing Vote for Peace and Freedom and Left Unity
The June 2026 California primary results exhibit both a significant gain in support for socialist candidates and the effectiveness of the Left Unity Slate. The count was officially certified on July 10.
Three candidates endorsed by the Peace and Freedom Party will appear on the November 2026 ballot, overcoming the limitation imposed by the Top Two system. The first two listed are part of the Left Unity Slate, a joint effort by the Peace and Freedom and Green Parties, The three are:
Mark Rendòn of the Green Party, who came in 2nd in Assembly District 14 in northern Alameda County and western Contra Costa County. There, his active campaign, growing dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party incumbent, and the endorsement by both the GP and PFP, put him ahead of the Republican in the three-way race.
Victor Hernandez of the Green Party, who was one of only 2 candidates on the primary ballot for the 59th Assembly District in northern Orange County and southwestern San Bernardino County.
Kevin Akin of the Peace and Freedom Party, who gained a spot in the November election for the 63rd Assembly District in Riverside County as a write-in candidate against the unopposed Republican incumbent. Because of the later time period for qualifying as a write-in candidate, Akin is not yet on the Left Unity Slate.
Ramsey Robinson, the Peace and Freedom Party candidate for Governor, came in 9th out of 61 candidates for Governor, ahead of former State Controller Betty Yee and all of the other candidates who were not considered “major” by the establishment press.
One of the tests for maintaining ballot status is to gain at least 2% of the vote in a statewide race. The more candidates in the race, the lower the vote for our candidate. In the past, both the PFP and the GP were able to muster 2% in three-way races. This year, there were only three candidates for Controller and Attorney General, and our votes were well over 5% in each case. And most of our other endorsed candidates on the ballot garnered at least 2% despite the number of candidates.
These results, including vote count, percentage, and place for PFP-endorsed candidates indicate increasing voter support for Socialism and rejection of the two-party system.
