On October 18th 2025, a series of No Kings rallies were held across the U.S. to protest the Trump administration's authoritarian policies and attacks on democracy. The coalition of organizers, including MoveOn and ACLU, estimated that over 7 million people participated in over 2,700 locations across the US. Right here in California, Peace and Freedom Party (PFP) members participated in several No Kings rallies:
Sacramento, CA
PFP set up a booth in the middle of the crowd. Turnout was huge! We were constantly busy, talking to people, handing out literature, selling bumper stickers, taking donations, registering folks, etc. PSL had tables next to us and appeared busy as well.
After two hours of speeches (none by us or PSL), the crowd marched around the state Capitol for a few blocks, then faded away. This was clearly, according to later media reports, one of the bigger No Kings events in Sacramento.
Home-made signs predominated, and many folks dressed up in whatever costume they had at hand, relevant of not. One of my favorite signs was held by a young woman, which read, “I was afraid to be here, but here I am.” And then there was “Frogs for Justice” held by an older man. There were a lot of playful, but on-topic, creative signs.
