Labor and community activist Linda Roberts is running for State Senate in Sacramento County's 8th District in the June 2nd primary. She has been endorsed by both the Peace and Freedom Party and the Green Party. Her campaign is centered around representing working people at the Capitol. As can be seen from campaign finance reports, the very wealthy already have plenty of representation in Sacramento. A working-class student, a self-described "science nerd," she worked her way through college, often in laboratories. She earned a BS in Biology from California State University, Sacramento. Having studied Spanish, Latin, and French, she has found Spanish helpful in later life. She became politically active as a student, working against the Vietnam War and against apartheid. In her working life, she added union activism to her other causes. She was a member of two Service Employees International Union locals. She served as a steward, chief steward, bargaining council member, delegate and has continued to work against racism and war. the state and international levels, district labor council president, and Sacramento Central Labor Council delegate. Linda was married to another left and union activist, the late Richard Perry, for 46 years. LR is a member of several organizations, including the ACLU, SEIU local and national Lavender Caucus, Caucus for a Democratic Union, Pride at Work, Immigration Law Project, Organized Voices, Making the Best Better, Coalition of Labor Union Women, and many more. In retirement, she has been active in the California Association of Retired Americans (CARA), was the treasurer for Older Women's League, and the treasurer for the Federation of Retired Union Members. She has walked on hundreds of picket lines in solidarity with other unions and has acted as a legal observer at mass demonstrations. Organizations she has worked with and supported include the National Lawyers' Guild, Immigration Law Project, Oak Park Neighborhood Improvement Association, and Families to Amend California's Three Strikes law (working with the NAACP, Urban League, and Islamic groups). Linda has been active in the Peace and Freedom Party for many years, and served as the Sacramento County Chair. She has also worked with Green Party members on various campaigns. In California, voter registration is very important to political parties. The very existence of a political party as “ballot-qualified” is determined by the number of votes its statewide candidates receive or by the number of voters registered with the party. As the only feminist socialist political party on the California ballot, it is imperative that the Peace and Freedom Party continues as a qualified party.

Quite simply, the Peace and Freedom Party will not be able to provide Californians with candidates that will represent us unless we register and vote Peace and Freedom.

For all the information you need on registering to vote, visit the California Secretary of State's homepage at SOS.Ca.gov or just click here.

Thank you for registering Peace and freedom Party, and thank you for your vote!
